Estimated time: Collectively... about 9 or 10 solid days, maybe longer. (Although I did it over a period of, like, 2 or 3 months.)
So I got into a little Potter-nerd frenzy right before the last book came out. (And, hey. I've been reading and re-reading those books for over half my life! Sorry...) Sitting there, after reading "the Half Blood Prince" in preparation for the release of book seven, I suddenly found myself sketching Hermione Granger. Before I knew it, I'd drawn Harry and Ron. Suddenly, I had a strange thought. "I wonder if I could draw... EVERYONE..."
I started this picture before Deathly Hallows came out, which should give you an idea about how long I've been working on it. (I colored it in at my dad's house.)
Soooo... from bottom to top, left to right:
Row 1: Zacharias Smith, Pansy Parkinson, Kreacher, Winky Seamus Finnegan, Dean Thomas, Luna Lovegood, Hermione Granger, Crookshanks, Ronald Weasley, Harry Potter, Ginny Weasley, Draco Malfoy, Lavender Brown, Angelina Johnson, George Weasley, Fred Weasley, Lee Jordan, Cho Chang, Marietta Edgecomb, Neville Longbottom, Trevor, Dobby, Padma Patil, Parvati Patil.
Row 2: Vincent Crabbe, Gregory Goyle, Fleur Delacour, Gabrielle Delacour, Viktor Krum, Blaise Zabini, Millicent Bulstrode, Percy Weasley, Penelope Clearwater, Michael Corner, Colin Creevy, Dennis Creevy, Oliver Wood, Katie Bell, Alicia Spinnet, Cedric Diggory, Susan Bones, Hannah Abbot, Justin Finch-Fletchley, Ernie Macmillan.
Row 3: Vicky Frobisher, Demelza Robins, Romilda Vane, Terry Boot, Roger Davies, Owen Cauldwell, Mandy Brocklehurst, Ritchi Coote, Natalie McDonald, Jimmy Peakes, Terence Higgs, Geoffrey Hooper, Marcus Flint, Anthony Goldstein, Miles Bletchley, Montague, Theodore Nott, Graham Pritchard, Adrian Pucey, Orla Quirke.
Row 4: Wayne Hopkins, Moray Macdougal, Megan Jones, Daphne Greenglass, Kevin Entwistle, Leanne, Vaisey, Eileen Prince, Urquhart, Harper, Stweart Ackerley, Malcolm Baddock, Eleanor Branstone, Cormac McLaggen, Euan Abercrombie, Eloise Midgen, Laura Madley, Andrew Kirke, Lisa Turpin, Warrington.
Row 5: Bertha Jorkins, Rufus Scrimgeour, Edgar Bones, Amelia Bones, Grubbly-Plank, Su Li, Cadwallader, Tracy Davis, Sally-Anne Perks, Stephen Cornfoot, Jack Sloper, Marcus Belby, Severus Snape, Lily Evans, James Potter, Bob Ogden, Binns, Xenophilius Lovegood, Madame Rosmerta.
Row 12: Araminta Meliflua, Rabastan Lestrange, Mary Cattermole, Reginald Cattermole, Albert Runcorn, Pius Thicknesse, Bathilda Bagshot, Hetty Bayliss, Angus Fleet, Gregorovitch, Mark Evans, Stubby Boardman, Celestina Warbeck, Dedalus Diggle, Broderick Bode, Muriel Weasley, Dawlish, Dorcas Meadowes, Frank Bryce.
J.K.Rowling owns each and every one of them. (I didn't make up those student names- they were posted on her site.)
EDIT 08-14-09: Added rows 11 and 12.
F.A.Q:
Q: Lily Potter has red hair! It says so in the epilogue!
A: I've gotten this comment at least 50 times, and if I haven't changed her hair by now, you can safely assume that I don't care. She dyed her hair black in this version. Are you appeased? Because if I went back and made her hair red, I'd probably get a flood of comments asking "why are there two Lily Potters?" and I'd be explaining the difference between Harry's mum and daughter. Yes, people are THAT thick.
Q: Why is there more than one Voldemort? There are like, three!
A: There's actually only one Voldie- the fellow next to him, "Tom Riddle," is the handsome Muggle his mother Merope fell in love with, 'member? The "third" Tom, sitting in row 10, is the hunchbacked guy who works at the Leaky Cauldron.
Q: Where is ____?
A: Best tip for finding someone in this huge compilation? Try hitting "Ctrl F," and referring to the nifty 200+ character guide above. Chances are, they're there. I don't really plan on adding Grawp. (The image is already 1,252 by 1,402- and that's shrunken down about 90 percent!) I didn't forget creatures like Fluffy, Norbert, and the centaurs- there just wasn't anywhere to put them!
...Or perhaps they're standing behind the wall of characters already there.
Q: Is that Hinata Hyuuga? In Harry Potter fan art!?
A: Aha. That's a Ravenclaw student, "Su Li." With Hinata Hyuuga's distinctive 'do.

We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
